Square TA05 Drift Conversion SP Type S Complete.

Here it is, done 100%. Looks to be the first Square TA05 in Singapore though.
Fixed the short belts with their SDC-129F Belts, which are just 2 teeth longer.......=.=
It does pull the space by alot, i now realise the diffrence the 2 teeth made.
Gay angle steering? lol.
Ok, from this shot it looks like there is big ackerman angle, it doesn't, mainly because i took this at a weird angle, about 20 degrees from being perpendicular with the chassis.
Not sure what this picture can explain, I did not have this balance with my TB03 which is why i am pretty happy. It kept felling off the rear at any point, and with this Square TA05, it is a whole new different story. :)
One tiny bad thing, Space Constraint :(
This is a very weird wiring technique, which i spent hours to do this, but just one look through Japan's OTAR Conversions, I found this unique one to route the wires at the bottom instead of the top. I strongly did not want to go resolder my motor.
Looks clean eh? Look for the CA Stains.... lol.
40T pulley on Ball Diffrential, fixed the jerky effect by replacing it with a aluminium one....
No not Tamiya, 3Racing. :S
Same thing, 3 Racing Spool on 30T pulley. Ok, you guys will ask, why there is both titanium and tamiya stock screws? Well, of 2 things, these aren't titanium but stainless steel(Hex Screws), and while building i ran outta Stainless steel screws, will need to make a trip back to industrail areas for them..... Got them REAL Cheap, About 40 Screws for $6, most of them on my TB03 which i am lazy to unscrew them from the bottom... :3
One last shot before i end off.

Curently, this chassis has not had its first virgin run yet, mainly because i just finished this yesterday, i wished blogger updated its photo uploading interface bugs. The only thing you might find different when seeing it in the flesh would be the missing stabiliser set and aluminium bulkheads. I shoulda fixed up the rest before i upload these, but since i am that excited, i decided to show you guys first hand. My leg injury has gotten loads better, i am able to walk as i am before, which is why i can complete this, still i cannot rotate my ankles to beyond 180 degrees, it is still far too painful....

Big Thanks to Street Revo Trading at Woodlands for having stock of all these. I would not have made true my Ultimate dream, i stated in Mid-2009.

Just a small hint, my net updates will be very minor, such like my settings change, small pulley changes, occasional bling buys, and new shells and rims(Those in SPRCD should know what i mean :))

Alright, ending off here! See ya guys in a few weeks!

Total Cost of Spending: SGD$568.95
My pockets have been incinerated to smithereens now....

Square TA05 Drift Conversion SP Kit Type S!

Just got this from Street Revo yesterday! It looks real damn beautiful even without the build-up. Looks TC-D though...
Here it is! Looks pretty sweet, Its really new too, released on the 15 March 2010, This improved Type S, uses SSG CF 2.5mm, which is lighter, and more bling, but will require a protector, otherwise that bling will dissapear in a matter of months.... :S

The contents, 2.5mm under and upper deck, aluminium motor mount, which shifts it to the front. And the new designed steering arms, eliminated ackerman completly, and pretty much more than 30 degree steering without any mods.

Look at the SSG Blingness, I love it! Ok but this picture is not the point. The Type S was designed for the new TA05 V2, Why? Because the suspension mounts are pretty diffrent, with that it uses 2 diffrent blocks instead of one standard one. and the Newer TB Evo 5 Bumper, which had been taken into consideration, so it is pretty much a smooth sailing build i expect.
Well, here it is! the TA05 V2 Newer Bumper mount holes.

It will be delayed by weeks, probably because of this. I had a badminton game yesterday after picking up the kit, turns out i did not land properly, even though i play it everyweek with jogging every 6 days.

Stretched ligament, pretty bad, i can't even walk properly, much less sit on the floor.
Estimated Recovery, Almost 1 month. I'm flat footed, so yeah, probably thats one of the causes.
Square RC Sustain, is pretty much like a tuning shop for us hobbyists. It is exactly the same concept like Nissan to Nismo or HKS. Toyota to TRD or Trial. They also do hop ups which i am impressed by their quality, rumour has it that they do all this by hand.(Not Confirmed)
Big Thanks to Ethan from Street Revo for bringing this in!

My impressions:
I have not gone to mess around much with the settings and have tried it. Firstly, it was not very good to be honest. The amount of angle it give is not as much as i expected, which could possibly two things, the camber, caster and etc. It is my first trial and i cannot expect much. I did these all in 3 days which is very short. The Square Conversion have not arrived yet, Last weeks stock was sold off completly, so I will be picking them up soon. My ratio is 148%, i have plans to push it to near 170% or even 200%( Provided Square manufactures more centre pulleys)

Thoughts on the car itself:
I had a Shaft drive previously, the TB03, it was norm to have the power response, and slow drift recovery. Now i am using a belt drive, which is pretty much another world i went to. The TA05 felt very balanced, direction switching was good, problem is that i felt the lack of power instantly, which is pretty bad for me. Its like driving a 800Hp Supra with a heavy front, then switching back to a pure AE86 with 120HP stock....

Damage:
Yes, Motor caught fire.(No idea how) First it was smoke from the motor, sparks flying everywhere during runs, i could see them from almost 20 feet away.

After around 20 mins, commutator caught fire, had to use a water filled garden spray to put out.

Will have more settings to put up, do watch my blog for more impressions in my Overdrive journey!

Thank you for your attention.

Big News! Countersteer Mod arrives!

Alright, i got these 3 days ago from Street Revo, so let me state them one by one what they are.

This is the 40T Ball Diffrential Pulley from Square, to be put in the front.

While this, is the 30T pulley for the Rear.
20T pulley for the centre pulley connecting to the rear pulley.
OK, now u must all be wondering why i purchased a 3racing one instead of a Tamiya one, Listen good. This is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT FOR ALL THOSE TA05 CS BEGINNERS. The Tamiya ones if u realise, have only 3 holes and use a Front One Way 36T pulley, which will not fit the Square 30T one for 2 reasons, one being the smaller screws they have, and the diffrent positions of the holes on the pulleys. The Square 30T pulley is a ball diffrential one, so by getting a 3Racing one, u get 4 screws that fits the holes in the pulley. So PLEASE PURCHASE A 3RACING SPOOL/Square Spool(If you have cash to throw).

Carbon Fibre Stiffener for Converting my IFS on my TA05 V2 into a normal Conventional Shock position.

This is pretty much all for now, I will put my settings in my next post, so that it is much clearer.
Thanks for waiting and reading! :D
