For those New to RC Drifting.
Brief introduction to what SPRCD is like....
Friday, November 20, 2009
Sorry for the long no update of my blog. New stuff!
This was done weeks ago, so to show how bad a brush motor can get dirty.
Those black stuff are actually dirt and grime from 2 months. There are small goubles in the black stuff which are not very visible unless i swivelled the liquid. they seem to be the wastage of brushes caught in the armature.
My trusty Trinity Motor cleaner!
Last but not least, the most important of my blog. My new Lipo!
Specs:
Acorn Racing
4200Mah
30C (abit of an overkill for drifting, have seen a 40C before)
This Lipo provides a hell lot of power and punch. Sometimes, i can even see the sparks from burning brushes about 4m away. Have to switch down EPA on my transmitter to 80.
ESC gets hot shortly after. Probably because of the 30C...
Lipo beeper needed.(Buzzing is very soft) may need to get a louder one..

SPRCD 2nd camp
Started smoothly at 4pm, where we took about 30 mins moving tire markers up to the Camp room, namely T2266 to T2267.
Then went for seoul garden.
Camp Part 1
Here are the photos.
This is from my friend andy, who took all the photos...
I lazy upload, but i'll find time to do so.
Lets continue, my table consisted of John, reuben and Shiyong aka Hulk.
Took a HUGE AMOUNT of meat, seriously.
imagine about 10cm high of meat on the normal dinner plates....
Which after, we went to the arcade, i went for Maximum Tune 3 DX, renewed my car..
OMG, from undefeated highway dominator to WTF,,,,,, Wangan beginner?
rubbed my eyes, and WOW, its real...
Nvm, at approximately 9.30++ we went back to SP and moved the rest of the stuff to camping room.
then it was time for practise for trial run 1 at the Senior's Myamsterious room.
I scored average for clipping point, but i was engrossed in it, forgot almost all flow.
I then changed setting using shock spacer.
Played till I was satisfied, went to rest.
Then at around 1.13am, We went out..
Came back at 2am...
Watched Tokyo Odaiba D1GP, and was the first time i could fell asleep watching my favourite show.
shows how tired one can be at 4am....
Slept for 4 hrs, when i woke up last. Red eyes and a disoriented head is bad for drifting.
Pack up, then go to basket ball court.... 12.30
Oh my god, the surface was good, but my car wasn't set up for it.
practised till 2.30pm....
Single run: (in my prespective)
Practise run - flow is there, 4 out of 5 clipping point. score average 3 on clipping point.
1st run - clip all 5 on 3, i killed my flow by half. possibly at the dori-dori section.
2nd run - clip 4 outta 5, Improve flow by full throttling into dori dori with no brake. (i grew bigger balls, yay, Jk!)
Followed by Tsuiso:
Vs Jim, Win.
1st run(Me leading) - Advantage
2nd run(Jim leads) - Advantage
2nd round Vs Andy,
1st run(Me leading) - Advantage
2nd run(Andy leads) - Andy wins.
Let me tell the whole story. We started with the first hairpin, which we entered with same speed, shorly after by a huge sweeper. This is when i took the inside line with faster speed.
i thought i would cut him off, guess what?
I was tricked, what i did not realise is that i tuned his car for slight understeer, meaning, he can straighten out easily. ( i tuned that car, ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!)
So just at the end of the sweeper, his car shot up with speed, cut the inside line, i was caught offguard, and had to brake.
understeer occured at end of sweeper and the beginning of the dori section.
That was how i lost. I felt a little shock though.
That even though Tsuiso may seem easy and calm, but it is full of tricks and psychological challenges.
Day ended with this:
SP Competition
Overall:
5th: Jermyn Eng Jie Ming
Top qualifier:
1st: Jermyn =)
Promise to do better!
Heres the rest of the phots:

Interesting Tutorial...

More Stuff..
Here it is, mounted on my TB03... I would say its pretty cheap, for a motor that is maintainable, and have much more freedom in cleaning.
time for some maintenance, This is Silicon based oil at 50w, i changed to shock oils, which have turned from yellow to black....feels very diffrent, as the amount of weight on the shocks have decreased, the bouncing effect increased in front, causing less grip in front. but for the rear, i get more drift angle as a result.
Ugh.... because of the rebuildable motor, dust and dirt gets in more easily.... so i used this to clean off the dirt, i found a piece of muck inside just after my first run with the motor...
It sort of eats off the dirt, leaving behind shiny parts, which i am more than happy, to assemble it back together...
Pretty much all, for this month. I'm going to buy a spool next week...

Piece of VERY GOOD NEWS!
MY DREAM SHELL HAS BEEN RERELEASED!!!!
Credits to Side.fx for the news.
Tamiya GT-R33 (re-released)
by the wind on Aug.16, 2009, under RC News
So, Tamiya has finally re-release the most wanted bodyshell by RC drift community, the Nissan GT-R33 originally from TA01 kit Loctite livery. Even though it is a limited edition spare body set, we are very sure it will be a hit among option project lookers as well as collectors who may not even build or paint it.
Currently only available in Japan market, spotted via Yahoo site, the bodyshell is available as in the original state, that is without light bucket or any other addons. There was before, some tips that ABC Hobby is working on Street type Nissan GT-R33 bodyshell, beefing up their drifting line products. We also have reason to believe that HPI is in the same bandwagon, tuning their mold to release R33 before 2009 ends.
While these hearsay can’t be confirmed by respective parties, most of the time they emerge as true. We hope that bodyshells especially those which are street, which are meant for drifting market, should be accompanied with standard issue accessories as complete setup.
We look forward to reviews, as well as walkthru, howto, and tutorials, following this magnificent beast. Thankyou to sources of news namely from, driftercentral.com user SNPY.
Gives me hope and some dissapointment.... but i'll try my best to get this...

Another grandmother story of another trip..
Yesterday went to stargek, with the help of my manual. I asked a guy at stargek with a black tamiya shirt... din't ask for his name.... how do i take out the screw of my front ball diff, which couldn't come out.
Guess what? he told me to look horizontally into the nut. the screw was bent on one side. and because of that, he said that the nut got ceased as a result. and the screw had jammed into the nut, without the screw thread threading the diff screw..... I was Recommended a Spool which just went outta stock a week ago...
Will call next month September asking for it....
All i can do was do was rebuild another one... So off i go scavenging for parts.... made sure everything was in place. I left the place. Halfway through MRT, i just remembered i did not buy a bearing......
By that time, i was at Jurong east.... going back will take me another half hour + another bus trip.... Which by the time stargek would have closed by 3pm....
Second Problem
Not only that, i asked why my shocks leak somehow..... he unscrewed it.... Lol, a crack . Explains ALOT. So i was deciding against a Set of TRF Shocks, or i buy back the CVA Mini shocks and rebuild them... So i bought the CVA ones, and go home and try. If it doesn't work? I'm gonna need to save $90++ + $40. I also saw A set of Unusual Silver TRF Shocks, they wrote flourine coated..... Costs $118.... I rather take the normal Blue smexy TRFs.... and save the money for any more repairs...
Next month, a Spool and Maybe TRF if They don't work..... I still don't know how the hell i managed to jam a screw through a nut without gripping the nut threading....

More Problems...
I have replaced this with Andy's spare one.... need to return him. Hope Tmrw JK will bring it...

Bad month or good month u decide...
Mounted Wing on my 350z, looks smexy now.....
2nd Update
New F2s, they felt great on the garage running track, though. heard T-drifts feel even better... might try them out soon...Finally, i1'll introduce you to my other 2 shells!!!
A Shell i saved from going into the dustbin. I fell in love with Skyline GTRs since young, i found this near the dustbin. I picked it up and repaired the front lip which gone missing. looks good now though.
This was my first shell, came with nothing but the shell, seems like a rare shell.... placed aluminium foils for lights.... Tamiya Evo 7, which i probably had done better.....
See something missing from my TB03 chassis?
Yep, Bad news. Motor died halfway drifting. what happened was that the brush was missing, probably burned off.... and something is stuck inside preventing from moving it one side... this is wrong... i found that the end bell has 2 copper looking strips rubbing on the endbell, somehow, it went bent, probably because of the brush... i1m not sure.
Mourning the motor.... Letter of Thanks: Sport tuned, even though ur life has ended, i would want to thank you for the power u gave me when i needed during training, the fun i had. it has been a good time spending time with you. Good Bye.
Getting A TZ this weekend.... TRF shocks may have to wait longer.....

I'll Emo further from now.... T.T

Finally, 3/8 of the upgrade plans.
New Body clips. It is much longer now... providing a MUCH LESS hassle to clip the shell to the chassis...
First thing, i took off the spoiler of the 350Z shell, due to majority of people telling me that it was nicer without a spoiler, largely thanks to Alston of SPRCD. I really like my shell like this.
Did what i promised. i changed the driveshaft, a few scratches though.... Some stones got caught even though the shell is there....
My New Attanae, I took 1 hr to do it... Cut the stock CF stick provided by 1/4.... Twined it about 30 mins.... then took some masking tape and made them less messy.
My new heat sink!! This thing was said to be a waste of money. It wasn't, it really kept the motor cooler than expected.... loved the color too =) oh, and one screw went away for some reason...lol.
Lastly, My exhaust hop up. I did this, to enhance the look of the car... Looks like the HKS Muffler though.... just without the blue flame effect.
As you have realised... Theres some aluminium tape on my shell... That is to reinforce the sturdiness of the shell.. i got it from winnie's for $8?? my memory is not very good.
Recently, i cooked my battery.... I mean it. it Burned for god knows how long before MZ aka wonderlite realised.... it melted the whole shrink wrap..
Now i can't force charge using T15, But possible with wall charger. It still is able to take its full capacity.... but it will Melt now when the T15 completes chargiing...
This is going to cost me a bomb.... to get a New battery, Lipo pack+T15/Hyperion charger...
T.T
OK... I'll do this now, My plans are to Hop up this chassis as far as possible, the next upgrade will probably be the CF Underchassis Swap from 3racing.
http://www.3racing.hk/products.php?products_key=3479
http://www.3racing.hk/products.php?products_key=3480
After, it'll be another new chassis...
No idea which one it'll be... but most likely TA05 with CF/Square Conversion..
Pretty much this is it.... I'll be back next week.

Minor Issues...
As for the back, The diffrentials Fit Nicely without problems, Only thing i found was the bigger Feed hole of each driveshaft..... Just hope they won't eat till like Hulk's TA05 Half-Cup...

1/3 Of my Overhaul Plan+Some things i learned from Seniors
First, I must thank Nov aka Alan for being so kind-hearted to help me get these parts at discounted prices. These are basically: Tamiya Aluminium Universal DriveShaft, And Rear Diffrential joint(TB Evo5)
okok, I know Why Most of you guys will ask why TB Evo 5? Basically, All TB Evo Series Are developed from Basic TB Chassis namely the TB02 and TB03. So the parts will Probably be atleast similar, if not, identical. I'll try it out... Most likely will fit.
Interesting fact: It IS in fact xanda's But through hearsay, it was said to belong to Nov before Xanda....
Ok.... This was done last friday. When i had trouble initiating drifts. JK, Helped me to Lock The Diffrential. It was one of the best configs i did for my kit. Just halfway through locking... Jk broke it.... Lol. So he gave me his Aluminium TB03 spare part.... FOC(Free of Charge) Hehe....
Lesson of The Week: Locking Diffrential, locking the front will give a higher corner entry speed, as according to FF cars, the front tires have majority of the power to pull the car into a corner. this is a tradeoff though.... a slow exit speed, as the Back wheels do not have to power to pull forward to bring it out and the centre of gravity is slow in retaining its original postion.
Locking the rear, will give fast exit speed, which is good, as the tires can power the vehicle inertia forward and shift back its Center of gravity... this allows the wheels to gain grip and thus pull away from the opponent. But Slow entry speed is expected on entry, as the back tires have to move almost the whole car weight forward just after CG change.
Locking Both, (No Idea yet... Only JK knows, so i'll try it and see if it coincides with his knowledge)
This Setting is Very important, as both have its own good points and bad points, it just depends on your choice and playing style. BUT too much setting is bad, it becomes too complicated, making the vehicle worse than normal, if done too much. Thats why settings are done only a few weeks later, Newbies like me need time to get used to the car, know its inside out, then we can initiate the tuning aka "Process Of Perfection"
As what Drifters always say:"The problem lies with not the car, its the driver"
Saturday is the NP-SP Combined Training, i will bring back pics and post them.

Minor Hop ups arrived
New Hop Ups
Hello, recently have been busy with my mid semester test revision thus i couldn't upload much... These are my back springs....Really Hard like A bar of soap.
Here are my front springs... Real Soft Like a cushion.
Re armed my PVCs...
Ok, U guys must be wondering why back hard front soft? Well, When a drift is initiated, a weight transfer is done when u turn it in. This will Shift the Centre of gravity to the front, due to the soft springs...causing The tires at the back to lose its grip on the surface... Then it will slide AND DRIFT. But still throttle skills come in really handy... "The art of drifting is not going sideways, it is pushing your car to its limits."Thats all for this week!
